What is DDNS? and why is it not working?

DDNS is the abbreviation for the Dynamic Domain Name System. It is a domain service that permits network customers to connect with the wireless router that works through its registered domain name. For the ASUS DDNS service to work correctly, you need to get a public IP address. If your wireless router sits behind any other gateway or firewall, it may get a private IP address (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x). In this case, the Asus router Ddns not working.

Steps to enable DDNS:

  • Launch your browser and then go to the router's default gateway address. https://192.168.1.1 this is the Default IP Address
  • login to the router
  • Login credentials:
  • Default Username: admin
  • Default Password: admin
  • Click on WAN on the left-hand side and then click DDNS at the top.
  • Click Yes to enable DDNS functions on your Asus router

Set up

  • DDNS Server: select your DNS service provider
  • Username or email address: Type in your No-IP account username or email address.
  • Password or DDNS Key: Type in your No-IP account password.
  • Hostname: Type in your No-IP account hostname or space.
