This article explains how to perform the Asus RT-AC1900P router setup for the first time.Inside the product package, you can find the following components: Asus RT-C1900P router, AC adapter, network cable (RJ-45), and quick start guide.Before you begin the router setup, make sure to disable the proxy server and dial-up connection options on your computer if they are enabled. Configure the TCP/IP settings on your computer if you haven’t configured them yet.

Step to set up the Asus RT-AC1900P router:

Step 1: Position your Asus router

  • Make sure that you have unpacked the router properly.
  • Place the Asus RT-AC1900P router in a location where the network coverage is high.
  • Avoid placing the router in between Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, transformers, heavy-duty motors, and other industrial equipment.
  • Make sure that the router’s antennas are mounted correctly.
  • Update the router firmware if available.

Step 2: Router’s hardware setup

  • Make sure that your access point or modem is turned off and its power cable is disconnected from the AC adapter. 
  • Connect the router to a power outlet.
  • Using an Ethernet cable, connect your router to the modem. Make sure to connect the cable to the WAN port of your router.
  • Now, connect the router to your computer using the bundled network cable.
  • Turn on the modem and router. Check if the WAN and LAN lights on your router’s control panel are blinking. If yes, go to the third step of the Asus RT-AC1900P router setup.

Step 3: Configuring the router settings

  • Open a browser on the computer that is connected to your Asus router.
  • As soon as the browser opens, the router’s Quick Internet Setup (QIS) Wizard will automatically appear on the screen.
  • If prompted, type the default credentials of your Asus router in the given fields.
  • Click on the Next button.
  • Now, if you’re using a Dynamic IP connection, then the QIS wizard will automatically detect your connection type and the corresponding page will be displayed on the screen.
  • When prompted, enter the SSID and password for your wireless network in the corresponding fields.
  • Click on the Apply button followed by Next.
  • If you wish to perform the Asus RT-AC1900P router setup using your smartphone, then launch the browser and perform the same instructions as discussed above.
  • Make sure to keep the router turned on during the entire process.
  • Once the router settings are configured, try to connect your device to the router’s Wi-Fi network manually or through WPS.
