Before you begin the router setup, check whether the below-mentioned components are present inside the product box.

Contact your Asus router manufacturer if any one of the above-mentioned components is missing or damaged inside the box.
Requirements for the router setup:
Now, prepare your router, modem, and computer or mobile phone for the setup.
Make sure that the modem that you're using for the connectivity is turned on and active.
Unpack your Asus RT-AX88U router completely and place it close to the modem.
Make sure that your modem and the router are placed in a location where the network coverage is high and stable.
If your modem or router is placed near any 2.4 GHz computer peripherals, Bluetooth devices, or industrial equipment, then relocate it to avoid network issues during the setup.
Update your router’s firmware if available.
Step 1: Physical Setup
For Wired Connection
Get a bundled network cable and, using it, connect your Asus router to your modem.
Make sure to connect the cable to the WAN port of your router.
Now, connect your router to a computer using another network cable. This time, make sure to connect the cable to the router’s LAN port.
Plug the router and modem’s power cables into the power outlets.
Turn on the modem followed by the Asus router. Make sure that the Power, LAN, and WAN LEDs on your router’s control panel are blinking.
For Wireless Connection
Place your Asus router close to your computer.
Connect your modem to the WAN port of the router using the bundled network cable.
If your computer doesn’t support wireless connectivity, then install an IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax WLAN adapter on it.
Now, turn on the router, modem, and computer.
Check if the WAN and Power LEDs on your router are blinking. If yes, go to the next step of the Asus RT-AX88U router setup.
Step 2: Configuring router settings via Web GUI
On the computer that is connected to your router, open a browser.
Access the Asus router’s web GUI using its IP address or the relevant URL.
In the Login window of the router, type your router’s default credentials (username: admin; password: admin) in the given fields.
Once you have signed into your router’s GUI, your Internet type will be automatically detected by the Asus wireless router and based on it, the corresponding dialog box will appear on the screen.
For example, if your connection type is PPPoE, PPTP, or L2TP, then the dialog box titled Internet ISP Account Setting will appear on the screen.
Enter your Internet connection’s username and password in the corresponding fields and click the Next button.
Configure the other router settings by following the on-screen instructions.
Complete the Asus RT-AX88U setup, and finally, try to connect your computer or mobile phone to the router’s network.
If your computer or mobile phone connects to the wireless network successfully, then it means the Asus RT-AX88U setup has been done correctly.
