  • Connect your router to an electrical outlet and turn it on.
  • Press and hold down the Factory Reset button for at least 15 seconds.
  • Once your router has been restarted, it will turn on automatically and restore the settings to factory defaults.
  • Next, connect your router to a DSL modem using a standard network cable. On the router, the cable should be plugged into the WAN port.
  • Make sure that the modem is turned on.
  • Connect your computer to your router’s wireless network using the network’s SSID and password.
  • You can identify these details on your router’s label or Wi-Fi Configuration Card.
  • Once you have connected your computer to the D-Link router’s wireless network, open the default browser. Enter the router IP address in the URL field and press the Enter key to open your router’s login portal.
  • Leave the Admin Password field blank and click the Log In button.
  • Verify the connectivity on the Current Status page.
  • If there is no strong connection between your router and DSL modem, check if the network cable has been connected firmly to your router’s Internet (WAN) port. Depending on your ISP, you may need to configure the PPPoE settings to connect the router to the Internet.
  • Fill the necessary fields and click the Save button to save the configured settings.
  • Set the wireless settings for your router and configure the login credentials for the D-Link Dir-518L router setup page. Doing so will prevent unauthorized users from accessing your router’s settings.
