D-Link Dir-860l Router Setup - Quick Steps

D-Link DIR-860L is a Wireless AC1200 Dual-band cloud router that will allow you to easily connect, control, and monitor the network with the help of future wireless technology and the uniqueness of MyDlink. When you download the free MyDlink application, you will be able to monitor your home network remotely. Plus, with the share port technology, you can access and share files, playlists, and videos. Steps to set up D-Link DIR-860L:

  • Take out the D-Link DIR-860L wireless router from the carton and place it next to the computer.
  • Unpack the Ethernet cable that came along with the router, connect one part of the cable to the router and the other part of the cable to the computer.
  • Connect the modem to the router using another Ethernet cable.
  • Take out the Power cord from the sealed package, connect the point to the rear of the router and the main to the power source.
  • Now, make sure your modem, router, and computer are turned on and open the default browser on your computer.
  • Enter the URL http://dlinkrouter/ and press the Enter button to proceed with D-Link Dir-860l router setup.
  • Your browser will now open the D-Link router’s Setup Wizard.
  • Click or select the Next button and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • You will now see the message Router is now detecting your Internet connection type, please wait…

If the D-Link router fails to find the internet connection, you have to manually set it up.

  • Click the Guide me through internet connection settings button.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts, select the DHCP Connection radio button option, and click Next.
  • Now you will be open to the field where you have to enter the Username and Password (Both of which will be provided by your Internet Service Provider).
  • Click or select the Next button option to continue with the D-Link Dir-860l router setup.
  • You will now come across the CONFIGURE YOUR WI-FI SECURITY pop-up window.
  • You will have to enter the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password to protect your connection (for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  • Click the Next button.
  • Now you have to set up the password. Enter a password in the field and then re-enter it for verification.
  • Click the Next button and then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Now, you have to select the time zone from the time zone drop-down list.
  • Confirm the Wi-Fi settings you have set for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
