Generally, the cable modem’s network speed is better than the DSL modems, but the cable modem usage has declined. Step-1: Disconnect the power cables

  • Remove the power connection of the Netgear router.
  • Disconnect the power cable of the cable modem to turn it off.

Step-2: Physical connection

  • Use an Ethernet cable to attach to the modem and the other end to the router’s WAN or Internet port to connect Netgear router to cable modem.
  • Next, re-plug the power cable of the modem to the wall socket and power it on.
