1. Enable the Port Scan & DoS Protection
The Netgear routers have an in-built security feature to prevent the DoS attack. Follow the steps to use the DoS protection of the router.
After connecting your computer to the router network, open the web browser on the computer.
Enter the router login URL and visit the Netgear router’s login page.
Key in the username and password to access the router’s configuration page, by default the username and password are admin and password respectively.
Now, click OK to enter the configuration page.
When the router setup appears in the browser window, go to the Advanced panel.
Select the WAN Setup menu on the left navigation panel and see if the Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection option is enabled on the right panel.
If it is ticked, then click the checkbox to enable the Port Scan and DoS Protection.
Select the Apply button to save the changes.

3. Turn on the Firewall settings
On the router configuration page, enable the firewall settings under the Advanced section.
