On Linksys Velop router, there is a wireless setting called Node Steering. This feature allows the nodes to connect to the strongest signal. By default, the Node Steering option is enabled on the Linksys Velop router. If required, you can disable it. This page explains how to turn off node steering on Linksys router.

You can turn off node steering on the Linksys router in two ways.

  • Using the Linksys mobile app
  • Using the Linksys Velop browser-based administrative tool

Using the Linksys mobile app

  • Initially, make sure that you have installed the Linksys Velop mobile app on your mobile phone.
  • Connect your mobile to the router’s Wi-Fi network.
  • Open the Velop app on your mobile.
  • Tap the Log in button.
  • Enter your Linksys server account credentials and tap login.
  • Now, your Linksys Velop account wizard will open.
  • Tap on the Wi-Fi tab.
  • Go to the Node Steering section and tap the toggle button beside it.
  • Tap Apply > OK.

The Node steering feature has been turned OFF successfully.

Using the Linksys Velop browser-based administrative tool

  • First, connect your computer to the Velop Wi-Fi network.
  • Open a web browser and navigate to the following web address: www.linksyssmartwifi.com. You can also use the IP address 192.168.1.1 to access the Velop administrative tool.
  • Now, on the main screen, click the Click here command.
  • In the given fields, enter your Linksys cloud account credentials.
  • Click Sign In.
  • Once you reach your router’s primary node dashboard, go to Router Settings and click the Wi-Fi Settings tab followed by Advanced.
  • Click the slide button beside the Node Steering option.
  • Now, click Apply > OK.
