Routers are used to connect all your network devices to a single network and manage the network traffic. The router also assigns an IP address to each device connected over the network. Devices can be connected to the router using an Ethernet cable or over WiFi. In order to set up a wireless network, the router must be set up initially. The configurations for the wireless network can be made on the router’s web-based setup page. All the routers at the moment transfer data over the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands.   • Initially, check the connections between the router and the modem.
  • Check whether the Ethernet cable from the modem is connected to the WAN port of the router.
  • Check if the modem and the router are turned on.
  • Now, connect the router to a computer with the help of another Ethernet cable.
  • Enter the router’s IP address (default gateway) in the address bar of a browser on the computer and press the Enter button.
  • The Linksys router page will now open in the browser. Enter the default username and password of the router to log in.
  • Click the Wireless tab located at the top of the router setup page.
  • Click the Manual radio button for the manual setup.
  • Now, you have to select the following information for the manual setup.
  • Click either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless bandwidth.
  • You can select both the band by selecting the Mixed option from the Network Mode drop-down list.
  • Follow these steps to configure Linksys router setup secure network.

(NOTE: If you want to disable a wireless band, you can select the disable option from the drop-down list)

  • Enter the network name (SSID) in the given field. This is the name that will be used to identify the router on a WiFi device.
  • Select the wireless channel from the drop-down list.
  • If you are using the 2.4GHz network, the recommended channels are 1, 6, 9, and 11.
  • If you are using the 5 GHz network, the recommended channels are 36, 40, 44, and 48.
  • Set the SSID broadcast option to enabled for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
  • Select the Save Settings button to save changes.
  • Now, to make the secure setup, enter a new password for the wireless network.
  • Similarly, you have to change the router’s default login password as well.
  • Log in to the router’s setup page.
  • Navigate to the Settings option and select the option similar to Change Router password.
  • Enter the New Password and save changes.
