WPS stands for Wi-Fi Protected Setup. It is a method to connect devices to a Wi-Fi network. It works only for the WPA or WPA2 protected networks. The two WPS methods are the WPS Push button and the WPS PIN methods. The WPS PIN method does not ask you to enter the Wi-Fi network name and password to connect to the network. The encrypted WPS PIN of the router is available on the router’s web-based setup page. The WPS PIN is an 8 digit number. You can connect a device using its WPS PIN. Case-1: If you know your device’s WPS PIN

  • Turn on the router and connect your computer to it.
  • Open a web browser, enter the Linksys router’s IP address, and press Enter to access its login page.
  • When the router login page appears, enter the username and password, and click OK.
  • The router’s configuration page will open.
  • Click the Wireless tab and then select Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
  • Now, enter the WPS PIN of your device and click Register.
  • Now, the device will be connected to the router.

Case-2: You know the router’s WPS PIN

  • For the Linksys router, the WPS PIN is displayed under the Wi-Fi Protected Setup section on the web-based setup page.
  • You can also find the WPS PIN from the router’s label at the bottom.
  • Open the settings page of your device and navigate to the wireless settings menu.
  • Select the Linksys router WPS PIN method and enable it.
  • When the device prompts to enter the WPS PIN, enter the PIN of the router.
  • Click Connect or OK and follow the guided instructions.
  • Check if the connection is established.
