Step 1: Hardware setup
Connecting a modem to your router
Get an Ethernet cable.
Now, plug the cable into your modem.
Insert the other end of the same Ethernet cable to your Linksys router.
Make sure to connect the cable to the Internet port of your router.
Check whether the cable is connected securely and continue with the remaining instructions given below.
Connecting the router to your computer
Get another Ethernet cable.
Move your router closer to the computer.
Plug the Ethernet cable to one of the ports labeled 1, 2, 3, or 4 on your router.
Connect the other end of the cable to your computer.
Make sure that the cable is connected securely.
Connecting the power cables
Connect the power cables of your router, modem, and computer to the wall outlet.
Turn on the devices one-by-one.
Wait for the devices to become stable.
Once the Internet light on your router stops blinking, begin the web-based configuration.
If the light continues to blink or the light doesn’t blink, then re-perform the hardware setup.

Step 2: Web-based configuration
To complete the Linksys router setup, access its web-access page and configure the SSID and password.
Sign in to your router’s web access page
On your computer, open the web browser and type the Linksys router’s default IP address.
In the Login window, type the default credentials of your router.
Click the Sign-in button.
If an error occurs while signing into the router’s web page, then recheck the IP address and the credentials.
Make sure that the Ethernet cable between the router and your computer is connected securely.
Configuring the Wi-Fi network settings
On your Linksys WRT54G router’s web access page, click on the Wireless tab.
Go to the Basic Wireless Settings option.
Choose the SSID for your wireless network and type it in the Wireless Network Name field.
Make sure that the Wireless SSID Broadcast option is enabled.
