  • Place the router in a centralized area and position the antenna.
  • Now, turn off your computer and modem. If your modem carries any backup battery, remove it as well.
  • Use the Ethernet cable that came along with the package to connect the modem and the Linksys router.
  • At the same time, connect the computer and the router using another Ethernet cable.
  • Connect the power adapter to the AC power socket on the router and plug the other end into a wall outlet.
  • Turn ON your modem, Linksys router, and computer.
  • It's time to configure the router from your computer. Open a web browser and type in your router's IP address in the address bar.
  • You'll be taken to the router's login page. Enter the default login credentials in their respective fields and click on the OK button to confirm the details you have entered.
  • You can check on the router's label to identify the default credentials.
  • By default, the router's Internet Connection Type is set to Automatic Configuration – DHCP. You can alter the connection type for the router.
  • Next, to set up the wireless network for your Linksys WRT54GC router, go to the Wireless tab.
