- The first step is to execute the physical setup.
- Connect the Netgear router to the ADSL modem using the supplied cable.
- Connect the LAN port of the Netgear router to the computer using a standard Ethernet cable.
- Now, turn on all the devices and wait until the Netgear router is ready for preparation.
- On your computer, open the Command Prompt app and type the “ipconfig” command to identify the IP address of the Netgear router.
- It will be available near the Default Gateway field.
- Next, open the default browser and type the Netgear router’s IP address in the URL field.
- Enter “admin” as your username.
- Enter “password” in the password field to log in to your router’s interface.
- If you are setting up the Netgear router for the first time, you can access the Netgear genie Wizard for easy setup.
- Otherwise, you can go with the Netgear Smart Wizard to configure the necessary settings.
- If you are using the Netgear genie Wizard, click the “No, I want to configure the internet connection myself” radio button and click the Next button for a manual configuration.
- Click the Basic tab and select Internet from the left-side panel.
- Under the “Does your Internet connection require a login?” section, click the Yes radio button.
- Click the Internet Service Provider drop-down menu and select PPPoE as your ADSL service.
- Enter the ISP’s username and password in the required fields.
- Next, click the Apply button to save the applied settings.
- Choose the Dial on Demand, Always-On, or Manually Connect option as your connection mode based on your wish.
