 Netgear Extender Won’t Connect To The Router

If your Netgear extender won’t connect to the router, then perform these steps to solve the issue immediately.

  • Use a paperclip and press and hold the Reset button on the extender for 10 seconds.
  • Release the button and wait for the Netgear extender to reboot.
  • Connect the extender to your computer and log in to the device by entering the default user name and the password. The default user name: admin; password: Password.
  • Tap Finish and check with connectivity.

If the issue persists, then follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1 - Clear The Cache: Google Chrome

  • Open the Google Chrome web browser on your computer.
  • Click on the menu (three-dotted) icon on the browser.
  • Click More Tools.
  • Select Clear Browser Cache.

Step 2 - Update Firmware:

  • Open a web browser and log in to the Netgear extender by entering the default user name and password.
  • Click on the Menu button and select the Firmware Update option under the Settings option.
  • Alternatively, select Maintenance and click on Firmware Update.
  • After updating the firmware, reset the Netgear extender.
  • Try to connect the extender to your computer either through a wired or wireless network.

Step 3 - Reconnect Netgear Extender

  • Connect your Netgear Extender to your computer by an Ethernet cable/ default WiFi network.
  • Open a web browser and enter www.mywifiext.net.
  • Log in using the default user name and password. The default user name: admin; password: Password.
  • Select the Wireless Settings under the Setup.
  • Check the value in the password field, whether it matches the router password.
  • Try the above steps to fix Netgear Extender won’t connect to the router.
