NETGEAR N600 SETUP MAC

Carry out these steps to set up your Netgear N600 router with the Mac computer:

  • You need to connect your Netgear N600 router to the modem first..
  • Make sure you have disconnected the device power cords from the electrical outlet.
  • Plug one end of the Ethernet cable in to the WAN port on the Netgear N600 router and the other end in to the modem.
  • Plug one end of another Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the Netgear N600 router and the other in to the LAN port on the Mac computer. 
  • Power on all the devices and wait until the connection is established.
  • Identify the SSID and Network Key of the Netgear N600 router.
  • t is available on the label located at the backside of the Netgear router.
  • On your Mac desktop, click the Networking icon, followed by the Netgear option.
  • Open the default browser and type the Netgear N600 router's IP address in the URL.
  • You can identify the IP address from the user guide or manual that comes along with the product.
  • Otherwise, it will be printed on the label at the backside of the Wi-Fi router.
  • Type "admin" in the Username field.
  • Type "password" in the Password field to log in to your Netgear web interface.
  • After entering the login credentials, click the Take me to the Internet button.
  • In the Authentication pop-up window, reenter your login credentials and click the "Log In" button.
  • If you avail Netgear Genie, it will assist you in setting up Netgear N600 router on your Mac.
  • On the Netgear N600 router web-interface, click the Advanced tab and select Setup Wizard.
  • Click the Yes radio button followed by Next.
  • Now, the Netgear router detects the Internet connection and prompts you to log in again.

  • Enter your desired admin password to avoid unauthorized access in the future.
  • Click Next and check for the firmware updates.
  • If the firmware update is available for the Netgear N600 router, click the Download button and install it to access more features.
  • After completing the firmware update, restart your Mac and verify the Internet connection.
