Initially, take out the Netgear router from the carton and remove the accessories. The main accessories are:

Netgear router antennas

The power cord

LAN cable

Now, place the Netgear nighthawk router next to your computer, take out the antennas from the package and attach it to the router.

Make sure the antennas are straight so that you will get proper Wi-Fi performance.

Take out the power cord from the sealed packaging and connect the router to a power source.

The best way to set up the Netgear Nighthawk router is by using your smartphone.

Open the Play Store (Android) or the Apple Store (iOS) on your smartphone.
Search for Nighthawk in the search bar and tap the Install (Android) or the Get (iOS) button on the screen.
The Nighthawk app will now be installed on your smartphone.
Open the app and select the option NEW SYSTEM SETUP.
Now, you have to follow the on-screen commands and tap the Next button.
Reboot your modem and connect an Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router.
Next, turn on Wi-Fi on your smartphone and connect it to the router’s default network.
Again, go to the Nighthawk app and you will see the Router is active now screen. Tap on the Next button.

On the next screen, you can enter a new name and password for the Wi-Fi network.
Set up the security questions to recover the password and tap Next.
The router will now configure the settings.
If you have changed the Wi-Fi password, reconnect your smartphone to the router’s network using the new credentials.
The app will check for firmware updates. Install the update if available.
Finally, on the Setup Complete screen, tap the Finish button to complete the Netgear Nighthawk X4s Ac2600 setup.
