How To Fix Netgear Router Not Detecting Internet Connection?
The Problematic Scenario:
You have recently purchased a router (Netgear R6700v2). But you cannot get your router to access the Internet. You have activated your modem with your ISP (Cox). When you navigate to routerlogin.net, you get the netgear router not detecting internet connection.
You have attempted to connect directly through an Ethernet cable to your modem and router with a Windows computer, but it has not proved fruitful.
You have also tried connecting through Wi-Fi on the computer and phone. Except for the globe Internet icon, which is in solid amber, everything else is solid white on the Netgear router.
You have even tried power cycling the modem and the router several times. Changing the Ethernet cables also did not work out. You just view a “No Internet connection” message on your Windows computer’s taskbar.
Right now, you are uncertain about how to proceed. You do not know the reason behind the problem. You are seeking help and would appreciate some from any source.
The Solution to the Problematic Scenario:
If you power cycle your modem and router many times, you have to make sure that you perform the task in the correct order. Only if the power cycling is done in the right order, the issue can be resolved. Now, please attempt to restart your network using the following sequence:
First, please turn off your modem and then unplug it.
Next, turn off your router as well as the computer.
Now, plug in the modem and turn it on. Please wait patiently for 2 minutes.
Please turn on the router. Again, wait patiently for 2 minutes.
Finally, switch on your computer.
Now, please try checking your Internet connection. If you still get the Netgear router not detecting internet connection, then try doing a hard or a soft reset of the Netgear router.
Steps to perform a hard reset:
You will see the reset key on the rear portion of your Netgear router. Now, press and hold this key using a paper clip for 20 to 30 seconds.
Please wait until you see all the lights blinking together. Then, release the key.
If hard resetting the Netgear router does not turn out to be successful, please go for a soft reset.
Steps to perform a soft reset:
First, confirm that your Netgear router is connected to the computer.
Next, open the default web browser on the computer and enter either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (whichever is suitable to your router) in the address bar. Press the Enter key. This action will make you log into your Netgear router.
When you are on the login page, you might be asked for the Username and Password. In most cases, both these parameters will be admin
So, you can type in admin in both the Username and Password fields.
Now, go to your router’s Backup Settings. You can see the Revert to factory default settings option.
You will also see the Erase button along with the above option. Now, click on that button.
By clicking on the Erase button, you will be restoring all your router’s settings to the factory defaults.
Now, if you check, the “No Internet detected” error will be resolved. You will be able to access the Internet without any issue.
