- You must have turned on the remote access feature to reset the router outside of your LAN network.
- For that, you have to log in to your router’s web-based setup page and select the Administration tab.
- Locate the Remote Management section and click on the Enable button. Then, click Save Settings.
- Now, you can access your router remotely.
- Launch your browser and enter the IP address of the Linksys router in the address bar.
- The default IP address of the Linksys router is 198.168.1.1. If you had changed the IP address of the router, enter it.
- On the Authentication page, type the password of the Linksys router to log in to the router’s page to reset Linksys router remotely.
- The default password is admin. If you had changed the password, enter the correct password.
- Make sure that the NumLock and CapsLock keys are turned off to avoid password typo.
- Once you are on the Linksys router’s web-based setup page, select the Administration tab.
- Go to the Factory Defaults section and click on the Restore Factory Defaults button. Then, click Save Settings.
- Your router settings will now be returned to the factory defaults after a minute.
