The TP-Link router is designed for a small office or home environment. The router antennas ensure the transmission of Wi-Fi signals to all your devices. It is easy to perform the TP-Link Archer C59 router setup using its web interface or the Tether app. Below are the simple steps to set up your router for the first time.
TP-Link router placement:
The router must not be placed nearer to a place exposed to moisture or excessive heat.
Make sure you can connect the router to your devices and the power source quickly.
Most importantly, keep the router far away from strong electromagnetic interference such as Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, and microwave ovens.
After placing the router in the correct location, continue with the TP-Link Archer C59 router setup.
Hardware setup of your TP-Link router:
Step 1 - Turn off your modem
Firstly, you have to turn off your modem.
Step 2 - Connect your modem to the router
Establish a connection between the Internet port of your router and the modem's rear port using an Ethernet cable.
Step 3 - Turn on your modem
Power up the modem.
Wait until the modem starts. It might take up to 2 minutes.
Power up the router and check if the Power and Internet LEDs stay lit.
Proceed with the following steps to perform the TP-Link Archer C59 router setup.
Step 5 - Connect your computer to the TP-Link router
Method 1 - Wired connection
Disable the Wi-Fi feature on your computer.
Establish a connection between the LAN port of the router and your computer's Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
Method 2 - Wireless connection
Click the Network or Wi-Fi icon on the computer.
Enable the Wi-Fi feature on your computer.
Choose your network name (SSID) and enter the correct wireless password.
Note: You can find the wireless network information such as SSID and password on the router’s rear panel.
After the hardware setup, proceed with the following steps to set up the TP-Link Archer C59 router.
Software setup of your TP-Link router:
Step 1 - Obtain an IP address automatically
Launch Control Panel and click Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings.
Once you right-click your connection, choose the Properties option and double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP4).
Click the radio button beside the Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically options.
Once done with the TCP/IP protocol setup, click the OK button and carry out the following steps to complete the TP-Link Archer C59 router setup.
Step 2 - Set up the Internet connection
Method 1 - Using Quick Setup Wizard
Open the default web browser on your computer connected to the router’s network.
Visit the login page and enter a new login password in the New Password field.
Enter the same again in the Confirm Password field to confirm.
When the Select Your Time Zone window opens, choose the time zone from the Time Zone drop-down menu and click the Next button. If the setup wizard does not opens automatically, navigate to Advanced and click Quick Setup.
Continue with the instructions to finish the TP Link Archer C59 router setup.
Note: You can even set up the Internet connection via the TP-Link Tether app.
Method 2 - Manual setup
Log in to your router’s web-based utility.
Navigate to the Internet section.
Now, select one of the following Internet connection types from the Internet Connection Type drop-down menu.
Dynamic IP - Navigate to the Mac Clone section and select the Use Default MAC Address option.
Static IP - Fill the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS fields.
PPPoE - Fill the Username and Password fields with the details provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
L2TP or PPTP- Type your username and password. Also, specify the secondary connection provided by your Internet Service Provider.
To save the Internet connection type settings, click the Save button.
Finally, you have finished the TP-Link Archer C59 router setup successfully.
