Setup TP-Link Router Without Cd

In most of the situations, when you purchase a router, you will get a CD along with it. You can make use of the CD to set up the router. This case will apply to the TP-Link routers as well. However, if your TP-Link router is not accompanied by a CD, or you have lost the CD, then you will have to set up your router without it. In case your computer does not have a CD/DVD drive, you can setup TP-Link router without cd in this situation also.

Setting Up Your TP-Link Router Without A CD:

  • The first step is to connect your TP-Link router to your computer.
  • Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port of the router to the Ethernet port of your computer.
  • Now, connect your modem’s ADSL cable to the WAN port of the router.
  • Next, turn off and on your computer, router, and modem. Then, wait for all the devices to boot up.
  • On your computer, open the default web browser and then type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. This will be the default IP address of your router.
  • Important Note: The default IP address will vary from one region to another.
  • The Login dialog box will now pop up and here, you will see a prompt to enter your Username and Password to setup TP-Link router without cd. Both the Username and Password will be admin.
  • Now, you will be redirected to the Quick Setup page. Follow the instructions on this page until you see the prompt to select your WAN connection type. Now, select PPPoE as the WAN connection type and then click on the Next button.
  • Following that, enter a new Username and Password for your router. When you are done with this task, click on the Next button.
  • Also, change your SSID or Network Name.
  • It is now time to choose your Wireless Security (Authentication Method). In this field, select the WPA2-PSK option.
  • Now, type in your password and then click on the Next button. Finally, click on the Finish button.
