  • First, Unbox the TP-Link router.
  • Turn on the TP-Link router.
  • Remove the backup cable of the router if available.
  • Straighten the antennas of the TP-Link router.
  • Connect the cables to the internet port and power on the modem and router.
  • Wait for two minutes. The LED light on the router should be stable.
  • Look for the default password behind the TP-Link router.
  • Use that password to perform the setup.

  • Unbox your TP-link extender.
  • Plug in the cables to the router and the wall outlet.
  • Before setting up a TP-Link Extender, collect the credentials of the router.
  • The root information such as; LAN IP: 192.168.1.254, SSID: 2WIRE-TEST, Encryption type: WPA2- PSK with AES, and Passphrase: testtplink.
  • The DHCP function of a range extender is disabled by default. You should manually assign an IP address to the computer such that it matches the default IP address of the extender.
  • Connect your computer to the TP-Link Range extender using an Ethernet cable.
  • Now log in to the range extender’s management page.
  • Choose Network. Check if the range extender’s IP address is on the same IP segment with the router.
  • Now we can change the IP address to 192.168.1.250 and then click the option Save.
  • Select Quick Setup. Click the options Next-> Wireless. Choose Range Extender from the drop-down list as the operating mode. Now click the option Search.
  • Look for your router’s SSID on the list displayed. Now click the option Connect.
  • Click the Save option.
  • Select the options Wireless -> Wireless Security.
  • Choose WPA-PSK/ WPA2-PSK for version, and for the Encryption choose AES. In the PSK password field, enter testtplink. Now click the option Save.
  • Now the security settings on the range extender should be the same as that of the router.
  • To confirm it, click the options System Tools -> Diagnostic.
  • Enter the router’s IP 192.168.1.254 in the IP address domain and then click the option Start.
  • The computer will obtain the IP address automatically.

Steps to setup TP-Link ac 1750:

Follow the below procedure for setting up TP-Link ac1750.

  • Unbox the TP-Link ac 1750. Keep the extender in a secure location.
  • The power LED on the extender should turn blue or green.
  • Connect the other Ethernet ports if needed.
  • The TP-Link ac 1750 can be connected to the host network in two ways.
  • One is by using the WPS method or Web-based interface(Wireless Access point).
  • The WPS button method is the easiest way to configure the router.
  • First, plug in the TP-Link Ac1750 to the power outlet.
  • Push the WPS button on the TP-Link ac1750.
  • Wait for two minutes and the LED light must turn on.
  • Once the light turns on, the TP-link Wi-Fi range extender is all set.
  • For a Web-based interface, connect your Laptop or Computer to a LAN port of the TP-Link with an Ethernet cable.
  • Try to assign a static IP address on the computer manually.

  • First, connect the computer to the LAN port of the TP-Link using an Ethernet cable.
  • Try assigning a static IP address on the computer manually.

  • On a Windows system, click the options Start -> Control panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings.

  • Plug in the range extender to the electrical outlet.
  • Press the WPS button on the TP-Link router.
  • Select the WPS button on the range extender within two minutes.

  • The WPS process will take at least two minutes.

The range extender can be configured in two ways.

  • The first method is to Manage with TP-Link tether.
  • Scanning the QR code and downloading the TP-Link Tether app from the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
  • Enabling the TP-Link tether to find the range extender in the device list.
  • Click on the Range Extender option.
  • Method two, when the extended Wi-Fi network name is different from the main router, try to connect the extended Wi-Fi to the router.
  • To connect them, go to http://tplinkrepeater.net.
  • If the extended Wi-Fi network is same, you can configure by using the Ethernet connection or the range extender LAN IP.
  • Once the Ethernet connection is available, turn off the Wireless connection on your computer. Now connect the computer to the range extender with an Ethernet cable.
  • By using a LAN IP: Go to the DHCP client list on the router, find the range extender’s current IP address and type it in the address bar.

We cannot do this as there is a risk factor of connecting two extenders between each other rather than via the main router.
