- First, connect your Xfinity router to a computer using a standard Ethernet cable.
- Next, connect the Xfinity router to an electrical outlet with the help of a power cord.
- Ensure that you have firmly plugged the Ethernet cable into the router's LAN port and the computer's network port.
- Power up your computer and check whether it detects the network.
- Open the default browser and enter the router's IP address in the URL field.
- Press the Enter key to open the Xfinity router's login portal.
- You can identify the router's IP address on the label attached to the backside of the router.
- If you have connected a computer that is running on Windows OS, identify the IP address with the help of the Command Prompt app.
- Click the Start menu and type 'cmd' in the search panel to configure Xfinity router firewall settings.
- Hit the Enter key and give a right-click on the Command Prompt app.
- From the pop-up menu, select the Run as administrator option.
- In the Command Prompt window, type 'ipconfig' and press the Enter key.
